First Annual Chefs, Friends, and Families 5K Run/Walk

On April 22, 2012, Overlook Farm in Clarksville, MO will be hosting the First Annual Chefs, Friends, and Families 5K Run/Walk to benefit Chefs for Students, a non-profit organization based in Colorado Springs, CO and spearheaded by Chef David Nelson.  The focus of this organization is raising monies for culinary scholarships, available to applicants nationwide.  It is our belief at Overlook Farm that good food and good health go hand in hand and we are proud to be partnering with this important organization for this exciting event.

Overlook Farm is a 325-acre working farm bordering the grand Mississippi River and including a stellar farm-to-table restaurant and two historic inns.  The run will wind through some spectacular Pike County countryside.  We are excited about this unique event, as the St. Louis area and surrounds has never called upon the cooking community in particular to participate in a running event.  We hope to involve not only chefs and their cohorts, but the entire “foodie” community.  We aniticipate between 200 and 400 participants the first year and will be capping registration at 400.  The race will begin at 9:00AM on Sunday, April 22,  with registration from 7:30AM to 8:30AM the day of the race.  Race fee is $25 or $30 on race day.

“We have received nothing but positive response from the St. Louis and surrounding community thus far,” said Anne Croy, Executive Pastry Chef at Overlook Farm and organizer of the race.  “My goal was to bring two passionate groups together for a morning of good cheer.  Interesting things can happen when we focus on shared experiences.  To me, that is the greatest reward of cooking and running.”

Overlook Farm solicited the help of Firecracker Press to design and print the eye-catching event posters The folks at Big River Running will be managing the race.  An event t-shirt along with what is shaping up to be a very unique “schwag bag” will be given to all race participants.  We will have post-race snacks, awards, and an event raffle or silent auction.  We would love to involve the participating chefs in a “potluck brunch” after the event.  We will also have many volunteers on staff to lead tours of our new greenhouses and event barn.

Please contact Anne @ with questions or to express your interest in a potluck brunch.
