Inside Clarksville Glassworks

  • Glass work demonstrations at the Clarksville Glassworks Studio:
    All Day: December 15, 16; 2012

Recently, I was lucky enough to take photos of Lance, a local artist at the Clarksville Glassworks Studio. Lance is originally from Pittsfield Illinois and is currently a resident artist at Astral Glass Studios in New Haven Missouri. Astral Glass is the sister studio of our own Clarksville Glassworks Studio in Clarksville Missouri.

A few years ago, Lance was a resident artist in Clarksville and luckily he likes to return to our town to demonstrate his technique and love of glass work to Clarksville visitors and residents.

Check out the photos of the Lance at work. Then find a weekend to visit Clarksville for a live demonstration at Clarksville Glassworks. The next one I know of will be All Day: December 15, 16; 2012!

He made it! But He’s only here ‘til 4:00 PM

Come to Clarksville today to meet Santa and Mrs Claus at Santa Land.

Tell Santa your wish and take as many photos as you want with your own camera!

Santa and Mrs  Claus.

Santa Claus visits Clarksville’s Santa Land this Saturday, December 1, 2012

  • Date: This Saturday Morning, December 1, 2012
  • Time: Santa arrives at the City Hall by fire truck at 11:00 AM sharp
  • Place: Santa Land, Clarksville City Hall, Santa’s cozy home away from home

With the mercury pushing toward 70 degrees today, it didn’t feel much like December outside. But tomorrow will be December, and Clarksville is set to welcome the one and only Santa Claus as he makes an annual visit to our holiday decorated town of Clarksville Missouri.

Mayor Jo Anne Smiley has worked wonders turning the City Hall into a North Pole away from home. The rest of the town has come together to decorate their stores, houses and street lamps.

Bring the kids, your wish lists, your camera, and your cheer.

MO Pyro, WOW!

Thanks to some great friends, I was lucky enough to get over to the Missouri Pyrotechnics Association fireworks shoot last night near Bowling Green, Missouri. The show was Amazing! My favorites included the hand made shells, the single fuse show, and the computer controlled finale. It was all so cool. I hope I can make it the next time these pyrotechnic wizards are ready to give us a show. Thanks MO Pyro! Enjoy the pictures! I have high resolution images, leave a comment if you’d like the full resolution.

Valentine, Be Mine…

If you have someone special in your life, show them you care with a distinctively unique gift from the heart. First take note in what they like or do often. Pay attention to what makes them smile or laugh. Then start looking early. Get some ideas by searching around online, then head to your town’s local stores. Walk around, meet the shop keepers, artists, designers, and craftsmen. Let them know what you’re looking for. If it’s not quite right, ask them to customize it just to make it perfect. If you have no idea at all, give them a budget and a few things to go with, like favorite color, wood, finish, gemstone or metal. Step back and see what they come up with. You might be surprised!

Oh yea, take a neighbor, relative, or friend for a second opinion and company over that cup of coffee and slice of pie.

Here are a few Valentine gift ideas available in Clarksville this season.
