Overlook Farm’s First Annual Chefs’ 5K Run

The first annual Overlook Farm Chefs’ 5K Run is complete! Anne, the pastry chef from Overlook Farm did a wonderful job organizing the event. The t-shirts, burlap gift-bags, food, and awards were all amazing. Everyone involved from the walkers, & racers to the staff, volunteers, and sponsors was helpful, friendly, and supportive.

Even though the weather was nasty and rainy during the 9 – 11AM race time, the clouds eventually gave way to warm sunshine for the post race awards luncheon.

The event was truly for everyone! An 8 year old girl won the under 20 ladies division, and my own wonderful mother won the 60+ division. Each one was a first time racer! I actually won the overall race and 30-40 division.

After the race, everyone gathered for some unique awards. The race medals were cut metal or wood carvings. The trophies were very unique vegetable sculptures by St Louis artist Anne Martin. The top 3 overall racers in male and female got their choice of sculpture. The top female picked an ear of golden corn, and I picked the beet! The other sculptured trophies were ‘eggs’, ‘asparagus’, ‘garlic’, and ‘potato’.

The turn out was ok for our small town, but there is a lot of room for the event to grow. If you didn’t make it out this weekend, hopefully we‘ll see you next time.

I hope more active events like this can dot our local calendar in the future. Great job Overlook and everyone involved! – Mike J

Spend the night in Clarksville

The weather outside is frightful but the fire is so delightful. Tis the season of mistletoe, cocoa, and warm fireplaces. Book a room at a Clarksville Bed and Breakfast, Lodge, or Inn and enjoy an unhurried weekend in town.

Try the beautiful Inns at Overlook Farm or the quaint Bee Hive Inn.

This weekend would be perfect. A certain special tubby chubby red suited beardy man might be visiting Clarksville!
